Some may know, some may not realise, but as of the 10th of November, Anna and I have been together for 3 years! So to celebrate we decided to try to make it to Prague again. I say try because last time we tried I broke my back the week before. In order to stop this happening again I stayed at home wrapped in bubblewrap for the 2 weeks prior :-D.
We arrived into Prague at about 5, giving us enough time to go to our hotel and freshen up before going out for dinner… Well I must say, Anna did well, the room was big, the bed was massive, there were even bathrobes! You know you’ve made it when you get bathrobes
And the breakfast… we lets just say they had Eggs Benedict, and I was very happy.

There are a few things about Prague that are most fantastic…
- The Beer - Czech is the inventor of the lager most of us enjoy, in a place called Plzn, Pilsner Urquel being the original. Its absolutely everywhere, tastes good and is so cheap ~60-80p a pint ($1.60 or so)
- The Food - If you are a veggie, steer clear! Everything on the menu is meat based, apparently even the vegetarian options can come with ham. However if you like meat you will love it here, the pub meals are really tasty, and come with these weird dumplings perfect for soaking up all the gravy… mmmm
- The Jewish Culture - Prague is home to a number of Jewish heritage sites. It was ‘fortunate’ in that during WWII, Hitler decided to preserve Prague as a sort of museum, everywhere else he invaded was destroyed. We visited a couple of synagogues, but soon realised that we knew absolutely nothing about Jewish culture and didn’t actually know what we were looking at. One thing that was fantastic was the old cemetary. We decided to go early in the morning on the Sunday to dodge the crowds and tourism groups and try and take it all in. We weren’t allowed to take any photos but this site has some. It was very impressive. It blew me away.
And some that aren’t…
- The Tourists - The thing I wasn’t expecting was the number of tourists! I figured being wintery there wouldn’t be so many people visiting, I’d hate to see what it would be like in summer! It took away some of the magic of the city, but just turning down a few side streets soon took us away from it all…
